The Program:

Maryland Lyric Opera will offer two sessions of a three-week intensive program providing essential training for opera singers. The program includes; daily coaching from MDLO Music Director Louis Salemno, vocal instruction from Head of Voice Faculty William Stone, coaching from Assistant Conductors Husan Park and Hai Jin, and stage direction from Nick Olcott. The Young Artist Institute exists to serve a dual function; pro-vide artists with great potential, artistry, and dedication to the service of music with access to experienced coaching and voice teaching at no cost to the artist as well as serve as a pipeline to identify and develop artists for future staged productions. For the 2018-2019 season, the expand-ed Young Artist Institute concludes with performances with orchestra of excerpts from Mozart operas. In October 2018 we explore Mozart’s German operas Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute) and Die Entführung aus dem Serail (The Abduction From The Seraglio.) In March of 2019 we visit Mozart’s operas written in collaboration with Lorenzo Daponte – Le nozze di Figaro, Cosi fan tutte, and Don Giovanni.
