The Program:

Maryland Lyric Opera will offer 4 sessions of a three-week intensive program providing essential training. Daily coaching from Music Director Louis Salemno, vocal instruction from Head of Voice Faculty William Stone, coaching from Associate Coach Rafael Andrade and more. Applications are now being accepted. The Young Artist Institute exists to serve a duel function; provide artists with great potential, artistry, and dedication to the service of music with access to experienced coaching and voice teaching at no cost to the artist as well as serve as a pipeline to identify and develop artists for future staged productions. Participants are offered voice lessons and coachings adding up to approximately 30 hours of custom designed instruction over three weeks. The intensive concludes with a recital performance which is free and open to the public. 

Audition and application information:

Four Sessions of the MDLO Young Artist Institute 2017-2018:

I. November 27 to December 15, 2017

II. February 5–23, 2018

III. April 2–20, 2018

IV. June 4–22, 2018.

Those who audition on any given date will be considered for all upcoming sessions.

We will only be hearing live auditions. Recordings will not be considered.

There is no application fee.

There is no accompanist fee.

There is no tuition fee.

Housing & transportation are not provided.

The application procedures include a simple form and a one-page resume submitted via YAP Tracker. You do NOT need to have a YAP Tracker subscription in order to apply. You can register as an applicant and there is no fee associated.
